The usual development process or say SDLC used to Design — Develop — Test (in a broader perspective) but due to this, the system/software applications used to suffer from high costs of bug resolutions and delayed releases.

Now with the adoption of agile development and releases, we needed a paradigm shift from shift right testing to shift left testing. Feels right? Once we start exploring this, you might feel why we didn’t adopt it earlier!

Now let’s first get the basics right, “What is shift left testing?” Shift left testing flips the whole process. Where testing gets closer to the front. It means starting the testing activities as early as possible. Like in the requirement gathering or design phase.

The goal is to catch bugs/issues as early as possible, which leads to potential fixes faster and helps the overall development process to be smoother. Sounds great right? With this we also push our teams towards frequent collaborations meaning even the business analysts understands what are the potential risks and how the delivery timeline looks line as per the engineering team.
